Tree plantation drive ‘HARIYALI’
Rotary International District 3291 in association with Rotaract District Organisation 3291 has organised Hariyali week started from 14th August. 2021, where about 20000 saplings were planted in and around Kolkata and the Districts of West Bengal. Environment is thrust area of Rotary International as trees promote health and social well being by removing air pollution. This enormous afforestation drive by Rotary not only fight climate concern and increase soil quality but also create valuable infrastructure to reduce urban temperatures.
Rtn. Prabir Chatterjee, District Governor of Rotary District 3291 emphasized the importance of tree plantations and said this process will go on in coming weeks. Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya hailed the initiative of Rotary International District 3291 and Rotaract District Organisation for their stupendous efforts to carry out this mega tree plantations in this hour of need. This ceremony was attended by large numbers of Rotarians and Rotaractors.
