Plant Saplings In Memory Of 26 Lives Lost In The Recent Pahalgam Incident

Kolkata, June, 2025: In the advent of the World Environment Day, Siddha Group, one of Eastern India’s most trusted real estate brands, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by organizing a heartfelt plantation drive in New Town, Kolkata, in collaboration with Prayas, an NGO led by Mr Avirup Sengupta, that works with specially-abled children.

The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from the children of Prayas, who were joined by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr Debraj Chakraborty, Member Mayor In Council, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Mr Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, IPS (Retd.), Former Inspector General of Police & Former Additional Commissioner, West Bengal Police. Also gracing the occasion were Vikram Chatterjee and Devlina Kumar, celebrated actors from the upcoming Bengali Movie, RAAS, who came forward to support this cause and inspire the young participants. The dignitaries also planted 26 saplings in memory of 26 souls lost in the recent Pahalgam massacre.

The event, held in association with Mrittika Earthy Talks Foundation and Harimitti, went beyond a symbolic gesture. A specially designed tableau carrying the message of “Be Selfish, Plant Trees, Save Yourself.” was flagged off at the venue. Over the coming days, this mobile unit will traverse through Kolkata’s bustling streets, distributing over 1,000 saplings to local residents and spreading awareness about sustainable living and community-driven environmental stewardship.

This initiative is part of Siddha Group’s larger environmental commitment to combat climate change, reduce environmental degradation, and preserve biodiversity. As part of this vision, the Group has pledged to plant 50,000 saplings by 2030.

“At Siddha Group, we believe that real growth is only meaningful when it nurtures both people and the planet. Today’s initiative with the children of Prayas and our partners reflects our enduring commitment to building not just homes, but a greener and more inclusive tomorrow. We hope that our efforts inspire more individuals and organizations to take actionable steps towards protecting our environment.”, said Mr Ayushman Jain, Director, Siddha Group.

The event resonated with warmth, purpose, and a shared vision of greener cities and responsible communities. Siddha Group continues to lead by example, integrating sustainability into every layer of its growth journey.
