Kolkata, 7th March 2024: On the eve of International Women’s Day, Indian Dental Association (Kolkata City), Brave Soul Foundation in association with Rotary Club of Kolkata Hiland Park 3291 and White Zone Dental Clinic organised a unique afternoon session aimed at restoring smiles for Acid Attack Survivors through Sustainable Dental Care Solutions in gracious presence of noted Film & Television actress Ms Priyanka Sarkar; well-known folk singer Ms Poushali Banerjee; Mrs Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, Dr Biswajit Panda & Dr Krishnakali Chatterjee & other dignitaries.
Dental care for acid attack victims involves a multidisciplinary approach. It begins with immediate medical treatment, followed by dental concerns. Procedures may include reconstructive surgery, orthodontic treatment, prosthetic rehabilitation, Cosmetic rehabilitation. Regular check-ups, oral hygiene, and psychological support are crucial for overall well-being. Consultation with a specialized team of healthcare professionals is essential for individual care as per the requirement in of the survivors. Fighters of Brave Soul Foundation Kolkata chapter Smt Kakoli Das, Smt Shammi, Smt Angura Bibi, Smt Monica Mondal, Smt Poli Debnath shared the journey of their survival while felicitated by White Zone Dental Clinic, a premium chain of dental clinics having branches at Tollygunge, Ajoy Nagar and Rabindra Sarobar with all modern dental facilities like in house CBCT, OPG, scanner, LASER, Conscious sedation.

Acid attack survivors often grapple with intricate dental issues, including deranged bite, malocclusion, and injuries to the jaws that may necessitate maxillectomy or mandibulectomy. The psychological toll is equally extensive, manifesting as dental anxiety. Moreover, in the aftermath of such traumatic incidents, victims may experience physical deformations, with oral manifestations ranging from a shrunken and narrow mouth to a loss of its full range of motion. These challenges significantly impact essential functions like eating and speaking.
