Siddha Group Embarks On A Significant Plantation Drive To Promote Sustainability, Biodiversity And Community Welfare

Kolkata, 11th June, 2024Siddha Group, a well-known real estate developer, today, startedits mega Plantation Drive, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing community welfare. The Plantation Drive was graced by distinguished personalities, including Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director, The Zoological Survey of IndiaMr Aloke Sanyal, Assistant Commissioner, Kolkata Police (Headquarters), Ms Sohini Sarkar, Actress and Mr Siddharth Sethia, Joint Managing Director, Siddha Group in collaboration with NGOs Mrittika Earthy Talks Foundation and Harimitti.The event also saw the participation of a group of enthusiastic children who joined the esteemed guests in planting the saplings. This collective effort marks the beginning of a significant step towards creating a greener and more sustainable future.


This initiative began in New Town, Kolkata, showcasing Siddha Group’s ongoing commitment to combating climate change, reducing environmental degradation, and preserving biodiversity.In response to the pressing nature of these challenges, Siddha Group has pledged to plant 50,000 saplings by 2030. Theinitiative started with planting of 100 saplings by the guests, followed by the children, thus paving the way for greater community and stakeholder involvement.

Our goal is not just to plant trees but to create thriving ecosystems that benefit both the environment and the community. The Miyawaki method that has been used today is particularly effective as it promotes rapid growth and biodiversity, creating sustainable and resilient mini-forests”, said Mr Siddharth Sethia, Joint Managing Director, Siddha Group.

The Plantation Drive reflects Siddha Group’s broader vision of integrating sustainability into its core operations and community initiatives. Siddha fulfilled its commitment by planting 50,000 trees between 2012 and 2015. By working together with diverse stakeholders, Siddha Group aims to make a significant contribution to the global efforts in combating climate change and restoring natural habitats.
