Ghazals still have it’s own class of audience. However, the charm of the poetic wonder still lingers. In this age of remixes and remakes, ghazal has made a comeback with a hint of freshness. Dr. Susmita Datta, a Professor of Biostatistics and a pre-eminent scholar at the University of Florida, USA has just launched her modern Ghazal album titled, ‘Nostalgia’ with the first song, ‘Aap Mere Khayalon Mein’ on her official YouTube channel. A first of its kind, this album is a unique Indo-US collaboration where the song has been arranged and mixed in India and the video, audio recording and the final processing of the video has been done by a dedicated crew in the US. The video has already reached more than fifty thousand views and many powerful positive comments such as “Such a mellifluous rendition, Awesome in one word!”
All the songs of the album will be launched as individual music videos from Datta’s YouTube channel and would also be available on all leading audio streaming platforms. The second song ‘Tum Chhupa Lo Mere Sanam’ has also been released recently and is gaining good views on the channel. The last song awaiting release is ‘Chaaho toh karo koshish’. All the songs have been composed by Rajorshi Seal. However, the songs have been written by different poets. Dr. Datta is delighted to present her songs as an independent artiste for the first time.
“There are more projects in the pipeline. Will release them one after the other from my channel. Would request all to listen to more of original compositions and support independent artistes”, said Dr. Susmita Datta.
