12th Annual Sports of J.D. Birla Institute held at Gitanjali Stadium
Kolkata: Sport is the one area of life that teaches us the most significant lessons about tenacity, patience, and what makes a good character. The 12th Annual Sports of J.D. Birla Institute affiliated with Jadavpur University was held at Gitanjali Stadium on February 15, 2023.
After a two-year break brought on by the lingering concern over the COVID-19 pandemic, the college hosted one of its most recognizable events. The sports meet represented the energy, skills, and sportsmanlike attitude of the institute’s students, inspiring them to persevere and hone their skills in order to reach the highest of heights. Shri Soumen Mitra, OSD & Director General of Police and Former Police Commissioner of Kolkata graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Mr. Ranadeep Moitra, Former Indian Cricketer, and Founder Endorphins as the Guest of Honor.
Over 150 students, along with teaching, non-teaching staff, and Group-D staff members of the Institute participated in twenty-eight track and field events. Special track events and a Sit & Draw competition on the theme “Sports” were arranged for the children from NGOs such as Hope Foundation, Jungle Crows, The Refuge, Calcutta Rescue and Calcutta Social Project. Although the students outsmarted their teachers on the field, the highlight of the event was a friendly football game and a tug-of-war involving students and faculty members.
